Don's story

I gave a talk at TEDxAmericanRiviera, built around one question: what happens when you combine the oldest human power there is, people connecting with each other, with the most powerful technology we've ever had.

For that talk, I built something simple called the vision wall. You write your vision on a card. You stick it on a wall. Anyone who walks past and is genuinely moved by what you wrote leaves their contact details on your card. That's the whole mechanism.

I closed that talk with a line I still believe: the most important thing about the power of connecting people is people. Not the technology. The willingness of a stranger to read what you wrote and decide to reach out.

I come from a technology background. That talk was the first time I said out loud, in public, that the technology was never the point. Connection was. dreamsedge is what happens when I stopped treating that as a talking point and started building it.

What was missing

I've been asking people about their dreams for a long time now. The question I keep coming back to is when did you stop talking about it. Almost everyone can name the exact moment. That precision still surprises me every time.

There are places to network, optimize, or learn a new skill. There's nowhere built for the quieter thing underneath all of that, the dream someone's been carrying that hasn't found a room yet.

Why now

Eighty-five percent of people report disengagement at work. Thirty-six percent report serious loneliness. AI is reshaping what work and identity even mean, and a lot of the paths people used to trust don't feel solid anymore. People are asking bigger questions about their lives than they used to, and there's nowhere built to help them answer those questions together.
